Taking BEQALZI
WHAT IS BEQALZI?
BEQALZI is a type of targeted therapy called a B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) inhibitor. It is used to treat adults with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) whose disease has come back or who did not respond after at least two previous treatments, including a Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor.
In mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), the B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) protein is overproduced and prevents cancer cells from dying. A BCL-2 inhibitor is a targeted therapy that binds to BCL-2, which triggers MCL cells to undergo cell death, a process called apoptosis.
IS BEQALZI RIGHT FOR ME?
BEQALZI is used to treat adults with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) that has come back or did not respond after at least two previous treatments, including a Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor. Speak with your healthcare provider to see if BEQALZI might be the right treatment option for you.
TAKING BEQALZI
BEQALZI comes in tablet form and is taken with a meal once a day at about the same time each day. Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not break, chew, or crush tablets.
BEQALZI’s dosing schedule includes a 4-week ramp-up period. During the ramp-up, you will take a single tablet on Day 1 to Day 3 of each week, increasing to 2 tablets on Day 4 to Day 7 of each week. After the 4-week ramp-up, the ongoing daily dose, 320 mg (four 80 mg tablets), begins on Day 1 of Week 5. You will stay on this dose as long as it is helpful for you. Use this dosing calendar to help track your medication during the ramp-up period.
If it has been less than 8 hours, you should take the dose as soon as possible. If it has been more than 8 hours, do not take the missed dose and resume your usual schedule the following day. If you have questions regarding a missed dose, speak with your healthcare provider. If you vomit following a dose, do not take an additional dose that day, and resume the usual dosing schedule the next day.
